Putting videos on PSP is a question that is asked a lot and one that is not properly explained in the Sony PSP manual. So what is the easiest way for putting movies on psp without the run-around? This answer is not as hard as you might think but there are a couple things that you need to keep in mind before attempting to do so.
Okay so let’s start with the first thing, one of the most important things you want to do before attempting to put any videos on your PSP is to have a large enough memory stick. Most people say about 512 MB should be your minimum, however I recommend at least 1 GB of memory. Memory sticks are incredibly cheap nowadays so a 1 GB memory stick should cost you around $20-$30. This space allows you the flexibility to have a number of movies on your PSP at once instead of always syncing back and forth with your computer.
The second thing to keep in mind is that you need a computer present or else you won’t be able to do any syncing at all. Unless you want to purchase the overpriced PSP movie cartridges in store, you’re better off just doing it all at your computer.
Okay so those are the main things. Now let me give you 4 simple steps on exactly how to put videos on PSP.
1. Connect the computer and the PSP together, making sure that the PSP is switched off to begin with, and switch the PSP on once the connection is made.
2. With the PSP go into the SETTINGS menu, and press X, which should link the PSP to the computer. If you then go into MY COMPUTER on the computer, you should see an extra volume has been attached. This is the PSP/Playstation Portable.
3. Open the PSP memory card and then open the folder called PSP. With this open you need to create another folder inside that one, this one called “MP_ROOT” and then another one called “100mnv01”
4. Save the movies you want to watch in the folder “100mnv01” and then you are ready to rock! The movies can be started by clicking on the saved image inside the memory card. One thing to note though is that the movies need to be in MP4 format (Google it), and if you want to convert your existing DVDs etc to this format you may want to get some specialized software.
That’s it! I bet it was much easier than you thought. That’s the simplest and most straighforward way I know of on putting movies on psp.
Now aside from that I just want to share with you something that I came across that you might want to consider given your interest in watching movies on your PSP. There are a number of really good services that allow you to download an unlimited amount of movies, software and games to your PSP for a small monthly or yearly cost. After doing a bit of scavenging to see which one of these services are really worthwhile I came across one of the best ones which you can check out.
